This is a type of snack loved by a lot of people. It is primarily made with coconut and sugar as the major ingredients. It is called coconut candy in English language. You may have been wondering how it’s made. Wonder no more, as this article seeks to teach you how to make Kwakumeti.

Kwakumeti can be eaten anytime and by anyone. Many people regard it as “small chops” because you don’t eat it to be full but rather for fun.

How to Make Kwakumeti

1 fresh coconut and coconut juice
2 cups of sugar

Procedure for Preparing Kwakumeti

STEP 1: Wash the coconut first, then grate it into small pieces and set it aside.

STEP 2: Place a pot and pour the coconut juice inside, then add the sugar and stir. Stir thoroughly until all the sugar is melted.

STEP 3: Add the grated coconut and stir, then add water to the same level as the grated coconut.

STEP 4: Continue mixing it with the wooden spoon until it is well combined.

STEP 5: Continue to stir until the mixture turns brown. When done, turn off the cooker and take it down to cool.

STEP 6: Pour the Coconut Candy onto a plate or tray and allow it to cool a bit. Then;

STEP 7: Roll them into balls or whatever shape you want and allow them to cool completely.

STEP 8: Your Coconut Candy Balls are ready!

How to Serve Kwakumeti

It is mostly packaged in small leather bags with sharp edges. However, you can serve it on plates, accompanied by a chilled drink of your choice, and enjoy yourself.

Occasions to Best Serve Kwakumeti

There are no specific occasions to serve this type of snack. Nevertheless, you can serve it as takeaways during weddings, festivals, naming ceremonies, and as the normal snacks (Dublan, Chin Chin, Alkaki, etc.) that are used to accompany a bride to her husband’s house after marriage in Hausaland, in northern Nigeria.
