Albishir is prepared similarly to Tuwon Madara but slightly differently. Powdered milk and sugar are the main ingredients for this meal. When done, they mostly take the shape of rectangles or triangles. It is very delicious and easy to make. In this article, I will be teaching you how to make Albishir (yadda ake Albishir).

This delicacy is one of the different snacks that we have in northern Nigeria, such as Tuwon Madara, Hanjin Ligidi, Mazarkwaila, Fankasau, Wainar Fulawa, Sinasir, Gullisuwa, and the like. It is mostly loved by kids as well as many adults.

Ingredients for Making Albishir

2 cups of powdered milk
1 lemon juice
1 cup of water
1½ cups of sugar
Vegetable oil

Procedure for Preparation of Albishir

STEP 1: Over medium heat, put a clean pot and add sugar, water, and lemon to it.

STEP 2: Stir the content well until it is properly mixed, then allow it to boil for 10-15 minutes until it turns brown. Ensure that it is not burnt else, you will have a bad outcome.

STEP 3: When the sugar has melted completely, quickly add your powdered milk and start to stir it. Stir it gently and steadily until both the liquid sugar and the powdered milk are well combined.

STEP 4: Get the clean nylon (leather) spread a little vegetable oil on it and then spread a little of the powdered milk on it too.

STEP 5: When the content in the pot is done, pack and put it inside the spread leather.

STEP 6: Use a rolling pin and roll then cut it into desired shapes.

STEP 7: When you are done cutting, spread some powdered milk on top of the Albishir.

STEP 8: Ta-Da! Your Albishir is ready.

Albishir is served on plates like every other snack. It is eaten with one’s two fingers.

Albishir is stored in a tight container; otherwise, it becomes very strong, which will cause difficulty chewing.
