  • 800 grams White hibiscus
  • 3/2 cups Roasted egusi (Grounded)
  • 1 gram Beef and kpomo
  • 2 Smoked fish (Medium sized)
  • 1 tablespoon Cray fish (Grounded)
  • 5 Seasoning cubes
  • 1 Large onion
  • 5 Scotch bonnet pepper
  • 1/2 cups Palm oil
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Locust bean (Grounded)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 6 Shaki (Pieces)
Instructions
    Procedures for Preparing Isapa Soup
  1. Spoon the ground egusi into a platter, sprinkle with a little salt, then cut half of the onion within. Add a small amount of water and leave it to rest.

  2. Rinse the meat, kpomo, and stock fish, then add salt, the remaining onion, and a seasoning cube. Cook for 15 minutes. Next, take it out of the fire.

  3. Fill a saucepan halfway full with palm oil, place it on medium heat, and let it burn until it almost clears. After that, combine and gradually add the egusi, much like you would with beancakes (akara).

  4. Fry until the bottom begins to burn (it will burn, I promise). Once you realize this, turn the heat down to low and carefully compress the egusi onto a dish, attempting to keep as much of the oil in the pot as you can.

  5. Once the egusi is packed (don't worry, you can't stuff everything), add the blended tomatoes and pepper to the pot's oil, then add the ground crayfish, locust beans, and last seasoning cube. Stir.

  6. Add the peppers and tomatoes and fry until the water evaporates. Add the stock fish, pomo, and cooked meats at this point.

  7. Additionally, add a small amount of the stock (meat water) to the fried pepper and simmer for 10 minutes.

  8. Add the Isapa and the packed egusi after ten minutes. Taste, stir, and verify the consistency. Add a small amount of the leftover stock, mix, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes if it's too thick—which is how I prefer it.

  9. After 5 minutes, add the veggies, taste and adjust the salt if necessary, cook for an additional minute, and turn off the heat.

  10. Ta daa Isapa soup is ready.

  11. It is best enjoyed with a side of pounded yam, perfectly complementing its rich flavors. It is traditionally served in a bowl or on a plate. Additionally, you can savor this delightful soup with your choice of swallows such as Eba, Tuwon shinkafa, Semolina, or Amala.
