How to Make Taliya Da Manja Da Yaji

Taliya da Manja is also known as Taliya da Manja da Yaji if you wish to add grinded pepper to it. It is a delicacy popular among the Hausa—specifically, the Kano people. It is simply a combination of cooked spaghetti and fried palm oil.

It has great nutritional and health value because of the wheat and palm oil in it.

Ingredients

1 spaghetti
Palm oil
Onion
Maggi
Salt
Grinded pepper

Procedure for making Taliya da Manja da Yaji

STEP 1: Pour water into the cooking pot, place it over medium heat, and allow it to boil.

STEP 2: Add your spaghetti to the boiling water. If you want, you can break the spaghetti sticks once or twice. Allow for 10-15 minutes of cooking time.

STEP 3: Slice your onions and set them aside.

STEP 4: Add palm oil to the frying pan and add sliced onions. Fry at low heat for 3 minutes. Pour it into a container and set it aside too.

STEP 5: Get the basket, pour the cooked spaghetti (taliya) into it, and allow to drain the water in it. You could even rinse the spaghetti while in the basket. Serve the spaghetti on a plate and pour a little of the content in STEP 4 and then add grinded pepper to taste. Don’t forget to sprinkle maggi on top.

STEP 6: Your Taliya da Manja da Yaji is ready to be served.

How to Serve Taliya da Manja

Pour the spaghetti (taliya) onto a plate, and drizzle the fried palm oil (manja) together with the remaining sliced onions on the spaghetti. You could add pepper (yaji) to it and then it is called Taliya da Manja da Yaji.

Don’t forget to have clean drinking water beside you. Also, be extra careful not to get stained by the palm oil while eating this delicacy.

It can be served as any of the three basic meals of the day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

How to Store Taliya da Manja

You can store the spaghetti (taliya) in the basket and last for 24 hours. You could store it in a freezer, but you will have to rewarm it before taking it. However, the taste is greatly diminished.

This delicacy helps improve eyesight, prevent heart diseases, reduce the risk of cancer, and improve hair growth.

Furthermore, it helps in reducing chronic inflammation, preventing gallstones, childhood asthma, and type-2 diabetes.
