Either of them can be made as a meal on its own: Beans Porridge (Faten Wake) or Sweet Potato Porridge (Faten Dankali). Ingredients for Making Beans and Sweet Potato Porridge

2 cups of beans
4 medium-sized sweet potatoes
½ cup of palm oil or vegetable oil
Onions

Fried fish
Pepper
Seasoning cube
Salt to taste
Spinach or Ugu leaves
Crayfish (optional)

Procedure for Making Beans and Sweet Potato Porridge

STEP 1: Spread the beans on a tray or flat surface, remove the bad ones, unwanted particles, or dirt, and set them aside.

STEP 2: Wash the onions and pepper and use a grater or blender to grate or blend them. Keep it aside.

STEP 3: Wash the spinach or ugu leaves with salt. Then use a knife to cut it. Set it aside too. If you have a chopping board, that will do just fine.

STEP 4: Wash the beans very well. Now over medium heat, put the cooking pot and add water, then add the beans and allow to cook until it becomes almost soft.

STEP 5: While cooking beans, peel the sweet potatoes, wash them, and cut them into small pieces or the desired size.

STEP 6: When the beans are done, add the sweet potato slices and cook for 7 minutes.

STEP 7: Now add the sliced or grated onions and pepper into the cooking pot and allow to cook for 5 minutes. If need be, add a cup of water to the pot.

STEP 8: Add the seasoning cubes and salt to taste. Spread the crayfish into the pot as well. Mix it very well.

STEP 9: Then add the vegetable oil or palm oil to the cooking pot and stir. Allow the food to cook for 3 minutes.

STEP 10: Finally, add the spinach or ugu to the cooking pot. Do not mix. Allow it to simmer for 3 minutes.

STEP 11: Turn off the cooker and stir the food before serving.
